The red brick Queen Anne mansion was built in 1705 and is surrounded by 15 acres of manicured gardens, lakes and fountains. Built as the home of Sir Robert Walpole’s daughter and Charles Churchill (relation to Winston Churchill) the house has had a number of notable owners including Colonel James Horlick, ( of the hot malted drink empire). The Royal Berkshire began life as a hotel in 1971 and was acquired by Exclusive Hotels in 2011.
The Royal Berkshire offers indoor wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships for between 40 to 150 guests and can even be booked on an exclusive use basis. A particular feature is the number of rooms available, 63 bedrooms and suites.
